Bartho Eksteen Ouskool | Rhône-style Red
Ouskool is usually a blend of Shiraz, Viognier, Mourvedre and Grenache, dictated by the specific vintage.
As a rule, Viognier will ripen before Shiraz and is considered “spice” in a Rhône-style blend, with the high ripeness at which it is harvested providing a pleasant dried apricot character to the wine. Grenache adds red berry fruit ﬂavours to the blend and Mourvèdre a pleasant earthiness. This wine is limited to the ten best barrels in the cellar.
